Meet the Team The License Manager team builds and evolves the core licensing and entitlement capabilities that support Splunk products. Our work enables customers to understand, manage, and remain compliant with their licensed usage through reliable, secure, and high-performance software. We are a collaborative engineering team focused on backend and distributed systems development, working closely with product management, support, and partner engineering teams. Your Impact Design, build, test, and maintain core License Manager capabilities using C++ to support secure, scalable, and reliable product functionality. Lead complex features from technical design through production delivery, balancing correctness, performance, security, and long-term maintainability. Diagnose and resolve complex production issues to improve system resilience, observability, and operational readiness. Partner with product management, support, and engineering stakeholders to translate customer and business needs into robust technical solutions. Mentor engineers, contribute to technical design discussions, and help raise the engineering bar through high-quality code, documentation, and engineering best practices. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree plus 6 years of related experience. Professional software development experience in C++, including designing, building, and maintaining production backend, systems, or distributed software. Strong understanding of software design, data structures, algorithms, debugging, testing, and code review practices. Experience investigating complex reliability, scale, or performance issues in production systems. Ability to work independently, lead medium-sized technical initiatives, and write clean, maintainable, and secure code. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Splunk Enterprise, licensing, entitlements, metering, or other platform capabilities. Experience with Python for tooling, automation, or test development. Experience with large-scale, highly available, or customer-managed software. Familiarity with Linux-based development and production environments. Experience mentoring engineers and improving developer workflows, test coverage, operational tooling, or engineering standards. Why Cisco?
