Our Staff Developer Advocates are technical leaders and mentors that anchor our team. They own projects from beginning to end, facilitating collaboration and enabling Datadog's community to solve real-world problems. Based in Singapore and supporting the broader Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region, this role will enable our community of engineers around Datadog to be part of a movement of building better software. You will work closely with internal product and engineering teams, as well as Datadog’s customers, coaching and enabling them to deliver compelling talks and stories to practitioners. What You’ll Do: Act as a subject matter expert for the Datadog advocacy and engineering teams Drive approach and execution of our overall first party technical event content programs in the region, such as Datadog Summits and engineering meetups, to tell authentic, compelling educational and inspirational stories for technical audiences Define and drive our regional advocacy programs for technical audiences, ensuring Datadog remains relevant to technical practitioners Represent Datadog’s point-of-view in the field to technical audiences at events and conferences. Manage, mentor, and grow a team of regional Developer Advocates based across APJ to execute localized community and advocacy strategies. Partner with and coach internal product managers and engineers on effective public communication and presentations for the work they do Represent Datadog point-of-view for our solutions, engineering culture and industry trends that our technical users should be thinking about Partner with event organizers to ensure success when involving Datadog and our customers, and the curation of the content most compelling to its attendees Create content in one or more mediums to build Datadog's reputation as a leader in DevOps, Observability, Software Development and Security e.g. building demos, public speaking, blogging, documentation, webinars, open source, research reports and more Contribute to the product through feedback (bugs or product enhancements suggestions) Who You Are: Approximately 5+ years of experience as a software developer, SRE, or other practitioner Approximately 5+ years of experience in a senior technical developer relations capacity responsible for collaborating with peers to set technical direction and influence product outcomes to serve user needs. Approximately 3+ years of experience in storytelling and creating compelling content e.g. written content, conference talks, leading workshops, live streaming or recording videos, contributing to open source, and participating in community events You have publicly available writing samples, blog posts, demos, or recordings of presentations on technical topics You have coached and enabled others to speak publicly and deliver compelling talks about their areas of subject matter expertise in a way that resonates with audiences, especially technical peers Experience either working on technical conferences or events, either as a collaborator with organizers or as an organizer yourself You enjoy self-driven exploration and education on new technologies and languages Nice to Have: You have experience working with regional teams to localize technical content and stories for your audiences You are multilingual, particularly in languages prominent in the ASEAN region (e.g., Indonesian/Bahasa, Malay, Thai, Mandarin) About Datadog: Datadog is the leading observability and security platform for the AI era, providing businesses with unified visibility across the technology stack to manage complexity at scale.
