Senior Embedded Software Firmware Platform Architect, Commercial Personal Systems *2 Description - Location Requirement Candidates must perform the job in Taiwan and be authorized to work in Taiwan. Position Overview We are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Firmware Platform Architect to provide technical leadership for the design, integration, and delivery of embedded software and firmware for computer systems. This role is focused on platform design, feature architecture, system integration, and technical leadership, working closely with implementation teams to deliver robust and scalable firmware solutions. In this role, you will combine deep, hands-on engineering expertise with system-level technical leadership to ensure seamless integration between software and hardware components, delivering reliable and efficient system performance. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, software developers, QA, and product managers to bring high-quality products to market. Responsibilities Provide technical leadership for the design, integration, debugging, validation, and deployment of platform firmware solutions, including BIOS/UEFI, EFI applications and drivers, embedded controllers, and RTOS-based systems. Analyze hardware and system architectures to define firmware requirements, dependencies, interfaces, integration strategies, and validation approaches. Lead the technical design of firmware features and drive alignment across hardware, software, and validation teams throughout development. Drive system-level enablement of emerging platform features requiring coordinated firmware behavior Lead proof of concept projects to explore new technologies and innovative firmware solutions Lead platform feature enablement by applying deep knowledge of PC architecture, firmware-software interactions, and hardware dependencies. Develop and maintain firmware architecture documentation, specifications, and development guidelines Troubleshoot and resolve firmware issues by designing and implementing enhancements, updates, and programming changes across firmware subsystems. Define and drive firmware integration, verification, and validation strategies, including automated testing, regression testing, and continuous integration. Education & Experience Recommended Bachelor's, Master's, or advanced degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline; or equivalent practical experience and demonstrated technical expertise. Typically, 10+ years of experience in embedded firmware, embedded software, systems software, platform engineering, or a related engineering field. Knowledge & Skills Expertise in PC and platform architecture, including CPUs, chipsets/PCH, memory architecture, boot and initialization flows, power management, device discovery and enumeration, and hardware-software interactions. Hands-on experience with BIOS/UEFI firmware development, EFI applications and drivers, platform initialization, boot flows, and firmware-hardware integration on PC platforms. Demonstrated ability to lead firmware design efforts, define subsystem interfaces and specifications, and develop integration strategies for complex computer systems Experience leading the design and implementation of complex firmware features from concept through validation, collaborating across hardware and software disciplines. Deep proficiency in embedded C and systems programming sufficient to guide implementation, perform design reviews, and troubleshoot complex firmware issues. Experience with embedded controllers, RTOS-based systems, device firmware, or related platform technologies Strong understanding of firmware and platform security, including firmware authentication/signing, secure updates, hardware security capabilities, and vulnerability management.
