Title and Summary Software Engineer II Overview The Decision Management Platform (DMP) Authentication Decisioning team delivers real-time authentication intelligence that helps protect consumers and businesses from fraud while improving the digital payment experience. The platform powers key Mastercard products including Identity Check, Smart Authentication, AAV Validation, and Token Provisioning Insights. As a Software Engineer II, you will contribute to the development and operation of highly available, low-latency services that process authentication and decisioning requests at global scale. You will work closely with experienced engineers, architects, product managers, and SRE teams while expanding your technical expertise and ownership across the full software development lifecycle. Role As a Software Engineer II, you will: Develop, test, deploy, and support software components used within Authentication Decisioning products. Translate functional requirements into technical solutions that align with team standards and platform architecture. Build enhancements to existing services while maintaining high standards of quality, security, performance, and resiliency. Participate in the design and implementation of APIs and microservices supporting authentication and decisioning workflows. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues by analysing logs, metrics, transaction flows, and service behaviour. Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment activities. Support ongoing maintenance activities including upgrades, configuration changes, and platform improvements. Work closely with senior engineers to learn architectural patterns, distributed systems concepts, and operational best practices. Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, estimation, retrospectives, and demos. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-focused solutions. Contribute to documentation, design reviews, and knowledge-sharing activities. Demonstrate Mastercard values through ownership, inclusion, urgency, and customer focus. All About You Technical Skills You have: Experience developing software using Java or similar object-oriented programming languages. Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles. Experience building REST APIs and backend services. Familiarity with Spring Boot or comparable enterprise development frameworks. Understanding of relational and/or NoSQL database technologies. Experience working with source control systems such as Git. Familiarity with automated testing practices and modern software development workflows. Understanding of secure coding practices and application security fundamentals. Interest in distributed systems, cloud-native technologies, and highly scalable applications.
