The Platform Tribe builds and operates the platform that Preply engineers develop and deploy on, and that millions of learners and tutors rely on every day. Our platform handles over 20bln requests per month, and we combine software engineering, distributed systems and cloud infrastructure to keep it reliable at scale while making it faster and easier for engineering teams to build on top of it. As part of the Developer Platform team, you’ll focus on: - CI/CD and testing: owning and evolving the systems and workflows that help engineers test, validate and deploy code quickly and confidently. - Developer experience and productivity: making it faster, simpler and more enjoyable for engineers to build and ship high-quality software. - Developer tooling and paved paths: building scalable tools and abstractions that reduce friction and enable teams to work autonomously. - AI-native development: using AI and agentic workflows to rethink and improve how software is developed and shipped at Preply. We work in small teams with significant ownership, so you’ll have a real say in architecture, technical decisions and how our platform evolves. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: As a Platform Software Engineer in the Developer Platform team, you'll build and operate the CI/CD systems, tooling and platforms that let Preply engineers ship quickly and safely. - Build and improve CI/CD systems, testing capabilities, and paved paths that enable engineers to ship quickly and safely. - Own and evolve the developer journey from writing code through testing and deployment. - Build internal platforms, services, and developer tooling to turn developer experience friction into scalable engineering solutions. - Provide the infrastructure and paved paths that let both engineers and coding agents build, test and ship autonomously. - Use AI and agentic workflows to rethink and improve the software development lifecycle, and set up the quality gates and safety nets that keep them trustworthy. - Operate what you build: take part in the team's support and incident rotation, and use data and developer feedback to measure and continuously improve the platform. - Partner with engineering teams as the users of the platform, driving adoption of your tooling and aligning stakeholders across squads so changes land smoothly. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED: - CI/CD depth: strong hands-on experience building and operating CI/CD systems and pipelines at scale, including the reliability, performance and cost trade-offs that come with them. - Extensive experience (~8 years) designing and building complex backend software systems. - Software engineering skills, including Python, which we use to build platform services, developer tooling and automation. You do not need to be a Python-first backend engineer, but you should be productive in it. - AI Expertise: You're a forefront user of Agentic AI. You're able to bring hands-on experience and start influencing the team beyond code generation; reserving judgment for architecture, business logic, and security, using AI as a thought partner and being able to set up quality gates and safety nets to enhance existing engineering workflows and propose AI-native alternatives. - Experience building developer platforms, internal developer tooling, developer productivity or developer experience solutions. - Experience designing platforms and tooling for engineers as internal users, with a strong understanding of developer needs and workflows. - Familiarity with cloud-native environments and distributed systems. - Business-orientation and data-driven approach. - Strong communication skills. Minimum C1 English level.
