ABOUT THE ROLE Join an early-stage healthtech team as a founding engineer, owning the backend systems behind clinical and financial workflows. You will build infrastructure that processes complex healthcare data and supports clinical AI capabilities in production. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Build and scale distributed backend systems for chart processing, claims, authorizations, denials, and payer and provider integrations. - Develop browser and computer-use automation for navigating medical record software and payer portals. - Design reliable systems to process scanned charts, PDFs, structured claims, unstructured notes, and operational data at scale. - Build orchestration, queuing, retry, and observability infrastructure for long-running workflows across healthcare systems. - Partner with research and product engineers to bring clinical intelligence capabilities into production. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - At least 3 years of backend software engineering experience, with a track record of owning complex infrastructure and systems end to end. - Strong experience with Python, microservices, distributed systems, and backend infrastructure. - Background in data pipelines, workflow orchestration, or processing large and messy datasets at scale. - Production experience with LLMs or machine learning models, plus browser automation or complex integrations. - Strong computer science, mathematics, or related technical foundations, and an interest in hands-on work at an early-stage startup. - Authorization to work without visa sponsorship is required. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Base salary is $160,000 to $200,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available. LOCATION On-site in San Francisco, United States.
