Job Description POSITION SUMMARY This Senior Systems Engineer position is within the Storage Engineering Team and falls under Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). This position will build, test, and document new storage and backup infrastructure, as well as serve as a Level 3 escalation point for existing storage and backup infrastructure. This position is part of the Global Storage organization and is therefore required to collaborate with Engineers across global time-zones in a follow-the-sun model. This position is expected to interact with Operations, Product Development, Technology Business Management, and various groups within Operations & Infrastructure. This role must have effective communication and analytical skills. RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the implementation, security, availability and automation of Storage, Backups and SAN infrastructure, based on business requirements while adhering to tight operations, security, and procedural models. Responsible for complex provisioning, API-first automation, advanced maintenance, data replication, disaster recovery, data migration and documentation for our Open Systems Storage and Backup environments. Demonstrate a high level of technical expertise to support complex Storage & Backup devices, including SAN, NAS, Object and Backup solutions across all tiers, in both on-prem Visa datacenters and across Visa’s public/hybrid cloud properties. Operate in complex, highly secure, highly available, operations-centric datacenter and public/hybrid cloud environments and interact with other technology domain experts as required, to build and maintain the Open Systems Storage and Backups solutions in those datacenter and cloud environments Assist in security remediation of known vulnerabilities for Visa’s Open Systems Storage ecosystem Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager. Qualifications REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or related field is preferred Four or more years of solid experience working in SAN / Storage / Backup administration Experience working in large, complex, enterprise datacenter environments Knowledge in deploying and supporting SAN, NAS, Object/S3 Storage and Backup solutions in a hybrid cloud model Extensive storage networking background is preferred Preferred knowledge of OS fundamentals for Linux and/or Microsoft platforms Preferred knowledge of virtualization and/or container technologies and products from RedHat, VMware or Microsoft Hands-on experience with All-Flash SAN arrays e.g. Hitachi VSP or Dell PowerMax Hands-on experience with FC or IP networking e.g. Brocade or Cisco Hands-on experience with All-Flash NAS arrays e.g. Pure FlashBlade or Dell PowerScale Hands-on experience with Object/S3 storage e.g. Pure FlashBlade or Dell ObjectScale (ECS) Hands-on experience with Backup/Data Protection technologies e.g. Rubrik or Cohesity Experience with Disaster Recovery (DR) as it relates to storage systems and data recovery techniques e.g. data replication and snapshots Ability to conduct performance analysis and troubleshooting skills for the end-to-end storage and backup stack (VMs, K8 containers, hosts, SAN, Storage & Backup devices) Experience in system monitoring tools and techniques for supporting SAN, NAS, Object Storage and Backup operations, alerting, and remediation Scripting proficiency and automation experience across both Windows and Linux environments Excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn modern technologies and paradigms Visa is an EEO Employer Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or protected veteran status.
