About Our Team We're part of Yahoo Inc. and Boundless Inc. We build a search and display advertising management platform for global clients entering the Japanese market. It includes tools that manage large volumes of ad data automatically and AI that simplifies complex business workflows. We're now building a new generation of ad platform tools to diversify and scale our revenue streams. We're looking for an entrepreneurial software engineer based in Japan to help build them, someone who enjoys taking ideas from concept to production. You'll work closely with our engineering teams in the U.S. and Japan to deliver high-impact technical solutions. Responsibilities: Architect, build, and optimize software systems for our ads management platform on AWS, using agentic AI-assisted development practices. Develop product features and internal tools that improve customer experience and engineering productivity. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to design maintainable technical solutions. Maintain and evolve core platform components with a focus on reliability, performance, and scalability. Must-Have Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 8+ years of professional software development experience, with strong proficiency in Java. Hands-on experience with agentic coding practices, prompt engineering, or structured interactions with AI coding assistants to streamline development workflows. Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming, concurrency, and distributed systems. Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs in UNIX/Linux environments. Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle), cloud platforms (AWS strongly preferred, or GCP), and container technologies such as Docker. Hands-on experience with, or strong willingness to adopt, agentic AI coding tools and workflows to streamline development. Nice to Have: Familiarity with React.js and Node.js. Programming proficiency in Python. Experience in data science or machine learning. Proficiency in Chinese. Soft Skills & Communication: Excellent technical analysis, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proactive mindset with a strong sense of end-to-end ownership. Business-level Japanese and English, both spoken and written. Work Schedule & Location: Overlapping Hours: Engineering team are based in both Japan and the United States, this role requires working from 6:00 AM JST (Tuesday through Friday) to maintain sufficient overlapping hours with U.S. based colleagues. Mondays follow standard local working hours. Work Arrangement : This position is primarily remote (work-from-home), with occasional in-office meetings or team gatherings in Japan.
