ABOUT THE ROLE Join a product engineering team building data infrastructure and software for AI-powered legal research. Your work will help make a large collection of U.S. laws and court decisions more accurate, useful, and accessible through products and developer services. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Build data pipelines that enrich legal documents with relationships and metadata, such as how court decisions relate to one another. - Develop systems that improve the reliability and accuracy of large-scale web scraping. - Optimize and evaluate services for citation extraction and resolution, and for modeling relationships between courts. - Expose data and core capabilities through APIs and other real-time interfaces. - Build benchmarks and evaluation methods using both human-reviewed and synthetic data. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - At least 2 years of experience as a hands-on software or data engineer, with broad backend skills and senior-level ownership of impactful projects. - Proficiency in Python and SQL, strong engineering fundamentals, and experience owning projects from initial design through deployment. - Experience with data pipelines and basic to intermediate infrastructure or DevOps; familiarity with modern AI tools and interest or experience in statistics, machine learning, or AI. - A completed computer science degree and experience building product-focused software, ideally in a startup or small, high-performing engineering team. - Comfort taking greenfield work from the ground up. Full-stack experience is a bonus. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Base salary is $170,000 to $240,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available. LOCATION On-site in New York, New York, United States.
