Samsung Semiconductor is seeking a Staff Storage Business Enabling Engineer to drive SSD business growth within the NeoCloud and Software-Defined Storage sectors. This role serves as a critical technical bridge between the SSD business and the rapidly evolving AI infrastructure ecosystem, focusing on identifying emerging storage architectures and translating customer workload requirements into strategic product opportunities. The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding the SSD business beyond traditional hyperscalers and OEMs by establishing new opportunities in AI infrastructure, disaggregated storage, and distributed storage ecosystems. By fostering strong technical engagements with NeoCloud providers and storage software companies, the engineer will influence product requirements and accelerate design-in wins to ensure long-term revenue growth through differentiated SSD solutions. Location: Daily onsite presence at our San Jose headquarters in alignment with our Flexible Work policy with 10% of domestic travel. Reports to: Principal Engineer, R&D Product Development Planning What You’ll Do Develop and maintain technical relationships with NeoCloud, Storage Software, and AI infrastructure customers to understand their system architectures, workloads, and future storage requirements. Identify emerging AI/ML storage use cases and translate customer pain points into SSD product and solution opportunities. Analyze storage architectures including GPU servers, AI clusters, distributed storage, NVMe storage, caching, tiering, KV Cache, object storage, and disaggregated storage. Work with customers to define SSD requirements including capacity, performance, endurance, latency, power, form factor, PCIe generation, NAND type, and software/firmware features. Lead technical discussions, PoCs, evaluations, and design-in activities from early technology exploration through qualification and production. Bridge customer requirements with internal SSD R&D, Product Marketing, Sales, Application Engineering, and Business teams to drive product roadmap and customer engagement. Develop technical proposals, customer presentations, architecture analysis, benchmarking plans, and business cases to support SSD adoption. Monitor technology and market trends in AI infrastructure, NeoCloud, storage software, and next-generation data center architectures and identify potential business opportunities. Build competitive intelligence on SSD vendors, storage platforms, and emerging storage technologies and translate findings into actionable business strategies. Support strategic customer engagements and executive-level discussions by providing technical insights and recommendations. Establish scalable customer engagement models and best practices for expanding SSD business with emerging AI infrastructure and storage ecosystem partners. What You Bring Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with 10+ years experience. 5+ years of experience in SSD, NAND, storage systems, server, data center, or related semiconductor/technology industries. Strong understanding of NVMe SSDs, NAND Flash, PCIe, and modern data center storage architectures. Experience working with hyperscalers, NeoCloud providers, server OEMs/ODMs, storage vendors, or storage software companies. Ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts across hardware, software, and system architecture. Experience in customer-facing technical roles, including technical presentations, PoCs, evaluations, and design-in activities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate customer requirements into actionable product or business opportunities. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross functional and cross cultural teams.
