ABOUT THE ROLE Join an early-stage fintech lending team building an AI-powered finance agent for businesses. As a founding engineer, you will help shape the agent's capabilities and contribute to the financial infrastructure that supports the business. The role offers tech-lead-level autonomy from day one, with most of your time focused on the AI agent. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Build and extend agent tools that help automate financial tasks and workflows. - Improve the quality, range, and reliability of the agent's end-to-end outcomes. - Compose existing tools and build new capabilities, including email workflows, document completion, payload generation, and account integrations. - Contribute to backend infrastructure used by both lending and agent products. - Work independently through ambiguous problems and deliver in a fast-moving, AI-tool-heavy development environment. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - Zero to five years of engineering experience, with strong ownership and the ability to ramp quickly in unfamiliar codebases. - Experience building Python backend systems, including APIs, asynchronous patterns, databases, and cloud deployment. - Daily use of Claude Code, Codex, or comparable agentic coding tools, with strong opinions about agent system design. - Experience shipping projects with minimal direction and taking ownership of ambiguous scope. - Interest in fintech, lending, or business financial workflows; TypeScript frontend experience is useful. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Base salary is $175,000 to $250,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available. LOCATION On-site in New York City, New York.
